(English) Islam : day 53 & 54 & 55

Hello there,

On Wednesday at 8:30 am we took the train to Kyoto station and from there we took the Shinkansen headed to Yokohama, we arrived in the blink of an eye! We had lunch in Chinatown and I tried a lot of new Chinese dishes, I really liked it especially these super good looking coconut balls!

I had time to visit the really famous Minato mirai area which is the central business district in Yokohama. I even had a quick look at the Cup noodles museum, the place is really funny.
I had a vanilla ice cream with a mini cake bear on the top! I even could try riding on a taxi for the first time, the chauffeurs are really elegant and I didn’t even need to open nor close the door because it’s automatic!

Back in Tokyo we had a meeting in Misumi Company and thank’s to Kimura san I will have the chance to interview them on the 18th when they are coming to visit our lab. I’m so happy about it, this will be very useful for my study.

After lunch I could take a picture with the really cute small version of the Statue of Liberty in Tokyo bay.

Our last stop was the Intermold exhibition one of the biggest in Japan and I saw amazing things in there. We visited Fanuc’s bus and I learnt that they offer the widest range of robots in the world. I have to confess that it was a little scary to see how robots are replacing humans in almost every field in the industry.

In Soft Bank’s stand I met a humanoid robot called Pepper, he was having a conversation with a woman telling her she was beautiful ! He was also asking questions about how tall he is and how does he look like! The staff explained me how he functions, Pepper is the first humanoid robot capable of recognizing the human emotions and adapting his behavior to the mood of his interlocutor!

To date, more than 140 Soft Bank Mobile stores in Japan are using Pepper as a new way of welcoming, informing and amusing their customers. Pepper also recently became the first humanoid robot to be adopted in Japanese homes!

That was really impressive and creepy at the same time. I felt like in a science fiction movie!

Back at Tokyo station Kimura san bought the very famous Tokyo bananas to all the employees and that was really kind. We arrived in Kyoto at 8:30 pm and even if I was really tired I was super happy about this new experience.

This afternoon there’s Masha’s presentation and we are joining her in Kyoto University after work, Kimura san said that after the presentation we will have dinner all together in her honor and this is really nice.

Have a good weekend.
