３８日目

明日はインターンシップが終わります。

２ヶ月にわたる体験は私の人生に一番最も影響した時期でした。

インターンシップを始めたとき、日本と日本語に興味を持っていました。日本で働きたいかどうか分かりませんでした。

去年に始めた趣味は本当の生活に変わるのができるか考えていました。

実は、当時に全く分かリませんでした。

「日本に本当に努力するのが必要」

「日本に旅行と暮らしのが全然違う」

「日本に仕事したら日本語を話すのが必要」

 

 

結局、以上は間違いありません。

しかし、良かったこともあります。

それは会社の社員です。

現場の職人は高い技術で複雑な機械を取り扱って、大切にする物を作っているから、私は仕事を誇りにできます。

事務所にいる人達は私に非常なよい影響を与えたと思います。皆さんは、いつも一所懸命働くからです。

しかも、気を使って私に日本語を教えてくれていました。

幸せです。

 

金曜日送迎会がありました。

新入社員を歓迎するため、スピーチしたり、食事したりしました。

そればかりか、カラオケを歌って、ビンゴもしました。

偶然にビンゴの当てた賞は、私の日本経験を表すペンでした。

 

私は新入社員と同じテーブルに座っていて、ようやくしゃべりました。

彼らは優しそうで、会社にはよく適合すると思います。

 

 

Day 38

 

Tomorrow I finish my internship. The experience covering the last 2 months has probably been the most affecting period of my life.

When I started my internship, I had an interest in Japan and Japanese language – although I wasn’t sure if I wanted to work here.

Would I be able to turn something I had picked up as a hobby a year ago into work and lifestyle?

Truthfully I had no idea.

 

“You have to work very hard in Japan”

“Travel and living in Japan are very different things”

“If you work in Japan you have to speak Japanese”

 

In the end, the difficulties are certainly present.

However, there is another side to work – all the other people in my company.

Workers on the factory floor operate complicated machines to make items that can be considered beautiful in a lot of ways. In the first place, what my company does and makes is a source of pride.

Workers in the office have had an extraordinary influence on me. Everyone works very hard, but still have the energy to continuously teach me Japanese.

I don’t think I will ever be able to express my gratitude fully.

 

On Friday my company held a welcoming and sending off party. To welcome the two new employees, speeches were given and food eaten. We sung karaoke and even played bingo.

Coincidentally, the bingo prize I scored was a pen – for me a very real symbol of my time in Japan.

 

Fortunately I was seated at the same table as the new employees, and finally had a chance to chat. The guys seem nice, and I think they’ll fit in well in the company.
