11日目

ほぼ一日中事務所か納品で努めて、書類を英語にしたり社内も社外の方と話したりします。基本的その仕事好きです。私は英語が好きだから、直接翻訳しないで、本当の意味を英語にするのが楽しいです。。でもブログを面白くなるために他の経験について書こうと思います。

 

だから今日のテーマはアンパンと水泳です。

 

この数日おでんを満喫したけど、昨日のコンビニおやつはアンパンでした。上司に従い、日本で最も一般なパン食のアンパンを決めました。小豆餡を詰めた菓子パンで、結構日本らしい食べ物だから上司はちょっと緊張していました。確かに菓子パンよりパン耳がカリカリのほうが好きだが、お・い・し・いでした。食べると中学のよくおやつで食べた「フィンガ・バン」を連想しました。

 

偶然にフィンガ・バンは次の話題と繋がっています。一般的におやつを食べた後で、水泳のトレーニングに行っていました。現在、意外に私はまだ泳いでいます。仕事が終わってプールに行ってたまったストレスを発散するために一生懸命泳ぎます。すごくいい気持ちですよ。コーチや競争相手がいなくて、ちょっと頑張りにくいです。負けず嫌い習慣を慣れば、もっと効率的に働くと思います。

 

 

Day 11

Most of my day is spent working in the office or out doing nouhin, translating company documents and talking to people from inside and outside the organization. I’ve got to say, I do like the work. Since I’m as interested in my own language as Japanese, I enjoy finding the best way to convey the ideas from a very foreign text into English – which generally involves more linguistic agility than translating directly. Talking to people with different roles from all over Japan is also really interesting. However, I expect my more unique experiences probably make for better blog material.

 

Today’s topics are anpan and swimming.

 

Recently, while oden has been a delicious break in routine, yesterday I decided on anpan as my afternoon snack. I chose this very popular bread-treat following my senior’s suggestion, however given that it’s pretty Japanese in nature (sweet bread with red-bean filling) my senior was a bit nervous. While I certainly prefer my rolls crusty, anpan continued Japan’s winning streak. The treat was very reminiscent of the finger buns I used to devour in school.

 

Coincidentally, finger buns play a role in the next topic. Typically after finishing school I would have a yummy iced finger bun then go swimming. These days, I still make a routine of training. Work finishes, I go to the pool, and get all my day’s stresses out by zooming up and down in the water. While it’s a challenge to push myself without a coach or rivals, I know if I can get into a habit of working hard in the water I can bring the same power to my job.
